375 Raptor Overview

The 375 Raptor is a modern .375-caliber cartridge designed around the .308 Winchester case and developed by Arne Brennan. It combines the ability to launch heavy .375-caliber projectiles with compatibility with the .308 Winchester bolt face, making it well suited to both large-frame semi-automatic rifles and short-action bolt guns.

One of the cartridge’s greatest strengths is its versatility. Heavy projectiles make it particularly attractive for suppressed and subsonic applications, while supersonic loads provide substantial energy for hunting and other field applications. The cartridge also performs well from relatively short barrels, allowing compact rifle and SBR configurations without abandoning meaningful projectile mass.

At Chattahoochee Munitions, we offer the cartridge across both our CM7S bolt-action and CM10 semi-automatic platforms, along with ammunition, barreled actions, magazines, barrels and suppression options.

375 Raptor Cartridge Design

The cartridge is formed around the .308 Winchester / 7.62 NATO case architecture and uses .375-caliber projectiles. Its .308-based case allows the Raptor to use the common .308 Winchester bolt face while accommodating substantially larger and heavier projectiles than conventional .30-caliber cartridges.

Subsonic & Suppressed Performance

Heavy .375-caliber projectiles make the Raptor particularly compelling for suppressed shooting. Subsonic loads can carry substantial projectile mass while remaining below the speed of sound, providing a combination of low sound signature, momentum and terminal capability.

Chattahoochee Munitions offers different ammunition configurations for bolt-action and semi-automatic operation because the requirements of the two platforms are not identical. This allows the ammunition to be matched more appropriately to the firearm rather than treating every subsonic load as a universal solution.

For customers prioritizing suppressed bolt-action performance, CM7S rifles are also available with the PLACID OTB over-the-barrel suppression system. CM10 semi-automatic rifles can be paired with the PLACID 375 suppressor.

Supersonic Performance

The same cartridge is capable of firing lighter .375-caliber projectiles at supersonic velocities, giving shooters a very different performance envelope from heavy subsonic ammunition.

This makes the platform useful for applications including:

Bolt Action or Semi-Automatic?

One of the advantages of the 375 Raptor is the ability to choose between two substantially different firearm platforms.

The CM7S bolt-action platform is well suited to shooters prioritizing simplicity, hunting use, compact suppressed configurations and minimal action noise when shooting suppressed. CM7S rifles are available in multiple barrel lengths as well as configurations incorporating the PLACID OTB system.

The CM10 semi-automatic platform provides faster follow-up shots while retaining the heavy-projectile capability of the cartridge. CM developed the current CM10 configuration as a centerfeed system using a modified MDT metal AICS-pattern magazine specifically configured for the platform.

Rather than approaching the CM10 as a generic large-frame rifle that happens to have a different barrel installed, CM treats the firearm, magazine, ammunition, gas system and buffer system as parts of the complete operating platform.

The CM10 Centerfeed System

Reliable operation of a large-bore cartridge in a semi-automatic platform depends on more than chambering a barrel.

The current Chattahoochee Munitions CM10 uses a centerfeed configuration together with a metal AICS-pattern magazine manufactured by MDT and modified by Chattahoochee Munitions specifically for the CM10 375 Raptor application.The rifle also incorporates an adjustable gas system and adjustable buffer, providing a platform designed around the operating requirements of the cartridge.

CM also offers dedicated semi-automatic ammunition developed for use with this system.

This approach is fundamentally different from treating the cartridge as a universal barrel conversion. The CM10 is offered as a purpose-built semi-automatic platform with the supporting components necessary to create a cohesive system.

Hunting Applications

The combination of large projectile diameter, substantial bullet mass and compact rifle compatibility makes the cartridge particularly attractive for hunting.
