The CM7S 22 ARC Bolt Action Rifle is Chattahoochee Munitions’ 18-inch bolt-action interpretation of the 22 ARC cartridge. Built around the CM7S Remington 700-footprint action, this complete rifle combines an 18-inch Mos-Tek 416R stainless steel barrel, 1:8 twist, CM7 chassis, TriggerTech Primary trigger, and a CM-vetted AICS magazine system into a purpose-built 22 ARC firearm.

22 ARC was developed around high-velocity, supersonic .224-caliber performance. The manually operated CM7S provides a fundamentally different way to take advantage of that capability than our semi-automatic CM15. There is no gas system to tune or cycle, and suppressor selection does not have to account for operating a semi-automatic action. The result is a mechanically straightforward 22 ARC rifle for shooters who prefer the characteristics of a precision-oriented bolt-action platform.

This configuration is finished in Cobalt Kinetics Green Cerakote with an E100 Blackout Cerakote barrel and AI Dark Earth grip and magazine.

Why Choose a 22 ARC Bolt Action Rifle?

The CM7S and CM15 approach the same cartridge from two fundamentally different directions. The CM15 provides the rapid follow-up capability of the AR-15 platform. The CM7S eliminates the semi-automatic operating system entirely and places 22 ARC in a manually operated bolt-action rifle.

That distinction becomes especially useful when shooting suppressed. A semi-automatic rifle must balance ammunition, gas pressure, reciprocating mass, and suppressor backpressure while maintaining reliable cycling. A bolt-action rifle does not depend on propellant gas to operate the action. The shooter manually cycles the bolt after each shot.

For the CM7S, that means the rifle can be approached as a complete mechanical system centered on the cartridge, barrel, action, magazine, trigger, chassis, and suppressor rather than around the requirements of a gas-operated action.

CM7S Action: The Foundation of the Rifle

The CM7S action is the foundation of this 22 ARC Bolt Action Rifle. Chattahoochee Munitions designed the action around the proven Remington 700 footprint while incorporating the features we wanted in a modern production bolt-action firearm.

A three-lug bolt provides a short 60-degree bolt throw. The one-piece .718-inch bolt body uses an M16-style extractor, while wire EDM-cut raceways provide controlled manufacturing tolerances and smooth bolt travel. The action also incorporates an integrated recoil lug, pinned 20 MOA Picatinny optics rail, .062-inch firing pin, large ejection port, side bolt-stop release, oversized bolt knob, and tool-less fire-control removal.

The complete action receives a PVD coating for corrosion resistance and smooth operation. At approximately 25 ounces, the CM7S provides the core of the rifle without unnecessarily increasing the weight of the finished firearm.

18-Inch Mos-Tek 22 ARC Barrel

At the center of this 22 ARC Bolt Action Rifle is an 18-inch Mos-Tek barrel manufactured from 416R stainless steel. The barrel uses 5R rifling and a 1:8 twist rate as specified by Chattahoochee Munitions for our 22 ARC products.

The 18-inch configuration gives the CM7S the proportions and handling of a conventional bolt-action rifle while retaining the compact cartridge architecture of 22 ARC. CM also manufactures shorter CM7S 22 ARC products for customers prioritizing compactness, while this model provides a conventional rifle-length configuration.

The barrel uses a shouldered crown, 1/2×28 muzzle threads, and the Remage barrel-nut mounting system. E100 Blackout Cerakote provides the contrasting barrel finish against the Cobalt Kinetics Green chassis and stock.

Suppressing the CM7S 22 ARC

The CM7S 22 ARC Bolt Action Rifle is suppressor ready with a 1/2×28 threaded muzzle. Because the CM7S is manually operated, suppressor selection does not have to account for cycling a gas system. There is no gas block to adjust and no requirement to balance suppressor backpressure against reliable semi-automatic operation.

For this reason, Chattahoochee Munitions generally favors a conventional enclosed suppressor for the bolt-action CM7S. This differs from our approach to the semi-automatic CM15 22 ARC, where we generally prefer a flow-through suppressor to help manage backpressure and gas-system behavior.

It is also important to understand what suppression does and does not accomplish with 22 ARC. The Flight Deck 22 family is built around the cartridge’s supersonic performance. A suppressor can substantially reduce muzzle blast, but it cannot eliminate the ballistic crack produced as a supersonic projectile travels through the atmosphere.

That makes suppressed 22 ARC fundamentally different from the heavy-subsonic cartridges found elsewhere in the CM catalog. The objective here is not to turn 22 ARC into a subsonic cartridge. It is to suppress the muzzle signature while retaining the velocity and trajectory characteristics that make 22 ARC useful in the first place.

TriggerTech Primary Trigger

The CM7S is equipped with a TriggerTech Remington 700 Primary trigger. Customers can select a flat or curved trigger blade.

The Primary uses TriggerTech’s Frictionless Release Technology and provides an externally adjustable pull-weight range of 1.5 to 4.0 pounds. This gives the shooter a crisp, adjustable trigger appropriate to the precision-oriented character of the CM7S platform.

Some older CM product photography may show flat triggers equipped with trigger shoes. Current production triggers no longer include those shoes.

CM7 Chassis: A Complete Rifle System

The CM7 chassis provides the structural foundation of the complete 22 ARC Bolt Action Rifle and integrates the action, magazine system, stock, grip, and support interfaces. It is machined from billet aluminum and finished in Cobalt Kinetics Green Cerakote.

The chassis incorporates a flared AICS-pattern magazine well, ambidextrous magazine release, full-length bottom ARCA rail, M-LOK compatibility, integrated QD sling sockets, and a modular stock interface. A large trigger guard provides additional clearance for gloved operation.

The pistol-grip interface accepts AR-15 grips that do not use an integrated dovetail. This rifle includes the CM Precision Vertical Crossover Grip in AI Dark Earth.

CM-Vetted 22 ARC AICS Magazine System

A bolt-action 22 ARC rifle and an AR-15-pattern 22 ARC rifle do not use the same magazine architecture. The CM15 uses an AR-15-pattern magazine, while the CM7S chassis is designed around the AICS magazine pattern.

Each 22 ARC Bolt Action Rifle includes one 10-round 22 ARC AICS Magazine. CM has tested and selected this MDT polymer magazine for use with complete CM7S 22 ARC firearms equipped with the CM7 chassis.

The magazine allows a maximum cartridge overall length of 2.480 inches, providing additional cartridge-length capacity compared with the dimensional constraints of an AR-15 magazine.

CM’s magazine validation applies to the complete CM7S and CM7 chassis configuration. Although the magazine follows the short-action AICS pattern, magazine fit and feeding can vary with third-party chassis systems and bottom metal and are not guaranteed by Chattahoochee Munitions.

22 ARC Bolt Action Rifle FAQ

Is the CM7S 22 ARC suppressor ready?

Yes. The 18-inch Mos-Tek barrel is threaded 1/2×28 for compatible muzzle devices and suppressor mounting systems.

What type of suppressor does CM recommend for the CM7S 22 ARC?

For the manually operated CM7S, Chattahoochee Munitions generally favors a conventional enclosed suppressor. Because the rifle does not use a semi-automatic gas system, suppressor selection does not have to balance backpressure against action cycling. For the semi-automatic CM15, CM generally favors a flow-through suppressor to help manage gas and backpressure.

Will a suppressor make 22 ARC quiet?

A suppressor reduces the muzzle blast produced when the rifle is fired, but the Flight Deck 22 family is built around supersonic 22 ARC performance. A supersonic projectile produces a ballistic crack in flight that a muzzle-mounted suppressor cannot eliminate.

Why does this 22 ARC rifle use a 1:8 twist?

The 1:8 twist is the twist rate Chattahoochee Munitions specifies for our 22 ARC barrels. In this complete CM7S configuration, it is paired with an 18-inch Mos-Tek 416R stainless steel barrel with 5R rifling.

What magazine does the CM7S 22 ARC use?

The complete rifle uses CM’s vetted 10-round MDT short-action AICS-pattern magazine. The magazine provides a maximum cartridge overall length of 2.480 inches and is tested by CM with the CM7S and CM7 chassis combination.

What is the difference between the CM7S and CM15 in 22 ARC?

The CM7S is a manually operated bolt-action platform, while the CM15 is a semi-automatic AR-15 platform. The two products use different actions, magazine architectures, and suppression strategies while providing two ways to use 22 ARC within the Flight Deck 22 ecosystem.

Does CM offer other 22 ARC products?

Yes. Flight Deck 22 includes additional CM7S firearms, CM7S barreled actions, CM15 semi-automatic rifles, a CM15 upper, and dedicated magazines for both platforms.
