8.6 Blackout AR10 Rifle | CM10 16″
The CM10 8.6 Blackout AR10 Rifle combines the Chattahoochee Munitions billet large-frame semi-automatic platform with a 16-inch 8.6 Blackout barrel and an adjustable operating system. The result is a full-length CM10 configuration built around the requirements of 8.6 Blackout rather than simply adapting a generic large-frame rifle to the cartridge.
CM has worked with 8.6 Blackout since the cartridge’s early introduction, building both bolt-action and semi-automatic configurations. That experience informs the complete CM10 system: SR25-pattern magazine architecture, customized feed ramps for the large .338-caliber projectiles, adjustable gas, adjustable buffer weight, and a choice of 1:3 or 1:5 barrel twist.
This 16-inch version features Cobalt Kinetics Green Cerakote receivers and handguard with Coyote B5 Systems furniture.
CM10 Billet Receiver Set
The foundation of the 8.6 Blackout AR10 Rifle is the CM10 billet receiver set. The platform follows the SR25 magazine pattern while using DPMS High Profile specifications for components including barrel-extension, BCG and 16 TPI barrel-nut compatibility.

Adjustable CM10 Operating System
Reliable semi-automatic 8.6 Blackout operation involves more than barrel length alone. Ammunition, projectile weight, suppressor configuration, gas delivery and reciprocating mass all influence how a large-frame semi-automatic firearm operates.
The CM10 8.6 Blackout AR10 Rifle therefore provides adjustment on both sides of the operating system through a Superlative Arms .875 Adjustable Gas Block and an ODIN Works AR10 Adjustable Buffer.
This allows the rifle to be configured around the ammunition and suppressed or unsuppressed setup being used rather than relying on a fixed gas-and-buffer combination.

The CM10 also incorporates customized feed ramps intended to support feeding of the large .338-caliber projectiles used by 8.6 Blackout.
16″ Mos-Tek 8.6 Blackout AR10 Barrel
The 16-inch barrel at the center of this 8.6 Blackout AR10 Rifle is produced in collaboration with Mos-Tek and is available with either a 1:3 or 1:5 twist.
- 16″ barrel length
- 416R stainless steel
- 5R rifling
- Choice of 1:3 or 1:5 twist
- M18x1.5 muzzle threads
- .875 gas journal
- Black Cerakote finish
CM offers both twist rates because projectile construction, length, weight, ammunition and velocity influence stabilization. Neither twist should be treated as universally correct for every 8.6 Blackout load.
For a deeper discussion of CM testing with twist rate, projectile weight, barrel length and suppression, read our 8.6 Blackout Subsonic Guide.
Why Choose the 16″ CM10?
The 16-inch configuration gives customers a conventional rifle-length 8.6 Blackout AR10 Rifle without the additional considerations associated with configuring a short-barreled firearm.
For customers primarily interested in subsonic ammunition and the shortest possible suppressed system, CM also offers shorter CM10 configurations. The 16-inch version instead provides additional barrel length while retaining the same adjustable gas-and-buffer architecture and 1:3 or 1:5 twist options.
CM testing with the subsonic loads we have evaluated has shown powder utilization to be effectively complete at approximately 12 to 12.5 inches. The 16-inch configuration should therefore be viewed as the full-length rifle option in the CM10 family rather than as a claim that additional barrel length is inherently necessary for subsonic 8.6 Blackout performance.
CM10 Handguard and Upper Components
- CM10 Warhammer ambidextrous charging handle — 7075 aluminum, developed in collaboration with Breek Arms
- CM carbine-length gas tube — Melonite
- Superlative Arms .875 Adjustable Gas Block
- CM10 LWS 15″ M-LOK handguard — Cobalt Kinetics Green Cerakote
- 6061 aluminum handguard
- Steel barrel nut
- QD attachment at 3 and 9 o’clock positions
- M-LOK attachment surfaces on sides and bottom
- Full Picatinny top rail
- B5 Systems Coyote rail covers
Vetted Magazine Architecture
Magazine selection is part of the CM10 system. The CM10 uses a conventional SR25-pattern magazine architecture rather than the AICS center-feed system used by CM’s 375 Raptor and 458 SOCOM XL large-frame configurations.
CM provides a vetted magazine with the rifle and also offers additional 20-round CM10 8.6 Blackout magazines for customers who want additional magazines for the platform.
This rifle includes one 20-round 7.62 PMAG in Coyote.
Suppressed 8.6 Blackout AR10 Configuration
The adjustable operating system is particularly useful when configuring a semi-automatic 8.6 Blackout firearm for suppressed use. The Superlative Arms adjustable gas block provides control over gas delivery while the ODIN Works adjustable buffer provides control over reciprocating mass.
Together, these components provide the 8.6 Blackout AR10 Rifle with two points of adjustment for tuning around the actual ammunition and suppressor combination being used.
Suppressor compatibility should always be verified for the specific muzzle device, suppressor, ammunition and barrel configuration.
