A Different Kind of 458 SOCOM Semi Auto Rifle

The CM10 lower receiver is machined specifically for AICS-pattern magazines. For SOCOM XL applications, Chattahoochee Munitions uses a purpose-modified 458 SOCOM XL Magazine based on the MDT metal AICS magazine and configured specifically around extended-length .458 SOCOM ammunition.

Purpose-Developed 458 SOCOM Semi-Auto Ammunition

Extended cartridge length solves only part of the challenge in a semi-automatic platform. The ammunition must also provide the operating characteristics necessary to cycle the action. Chattahoochee Munitions developed 458 SOCOM Semi Auto Ammo specifically around the feeding, gas and cycling requirements of the CM10.

The current load uses a 650gr Maker REX projectile at an extended 2.790-inch OAL and a propellant configuration selected to provide the gas characteristics necessary for semi-automatic cycling. Specific propellant types, charge weights and other proprietary loading data are not published.

The result is a firearm, magazine and ammunition system developed around the same SOCOM XL concept rather than treating extended-length ammunition as an isolated component.

Purpose-Built CM10 Large-Frame Receiver Set

The CM10 begins with a billet 7075-T6 aluminum upper and lower receiver set built around DPMS Low Profile specifications. The receiver architecture maintains compatibility with 16 TPI barrel nuts, DPMS-pattern barrel extensions and compatible large-frame bolt carrier groups while incorporating features specific to the CM10 platform.

The lower receiver is machined around AICS-pattern magazines rather than conventional AR10 magazines. A paddle-style magazine release is positioned forward of the trigger guard, while the integral trigger guard and weight-reduction machining contribute to the purpose-built design.

The upper eliminates the forward assist and incorporates additional weight-reduction cuts. Fire/Safe markings are engraved on both sides of the lower receiver. On this 458 SOCOM Semi Auto Rifle, the receiver set is finished in Carbon Gray Cerakote.

TriggerTech Duty Trigger

The CM10 uses a TriggerTech Duty Trigger. Available configurations include:
