CM7S 308 Bolt Action Rifle
The CM7S 308 Bolt Action Rifle combines a 16-inch Mos-Tek barrel, CM’s three-lug action and an adjustable billet-aluminum chassis in FDE Metallic. It is a compact, adaptable 308 Winchester rifle for field use, range work and suppressed shooting with conventional supersonic ammunition.
At 7 pounds 4 ounces, the rifle balances manageable field weight with the stability and mounting capability of a full chassis system. Its telescoping stock, adjustable cheek riser, M-LOK interfaces and full bottom ARCA rail allow the firearm to adapt to different shooters, optics and supported shooting positions.
This complete firearm is part of District 308, where CM’s 308 Winchester bolt actions, semi-automatic rifles, magazines, ammunition and technical guides are organized as one caliber system.
Mos-Tek 16-Inch 308 Winchester Barrel
The barrel is produced through CM’s collaboration with Mos-Tek. It is machined from 416R stainless steel with 5R rifling and receives E100 Blackout Cerakote for external protection.
Its 1:8 twist is selected for conventional supersonic 308 Winchester ammunition. This separates the rifle from CM’s specialized 12.5-inch subsonic configurations, which use much faster 1:5 twist barrels to stabilize the long 300-grain Maker REX at subsonic velocity.
The shouldered crown protects the muzzle, while 5/8×24 threads accept compatible muzzle devices, direct-thread suppressors and suppressor mounts. The barrel installs with a Remage barrel nut, supporting CM’s established CM7S barrel interface.

CM7S Three-Lug Bolt Action
The CM7S action uses the familiar Remington 700 footprint while incorporating CM’s preferred mechanical features. Its three-lug design creates a 60-degree bolt throw, reducing bolt-handle travel and providing additional clearance around the optic during operation.
A one-piece .718-inch bolt body, M16-style extractor and integrated .300-inch recoil lug form the mechanical core of the 308 Bolt Action Rifle. Wire EDM-cut raceways provide uniform tolerances, while spiral bolt fluting and an oversized bolt knob support smooth, controlled operation.
The action and bolt receive a full PVD coating for corrosion protection and reduced operating friction. A pinned 20-MOA Picatinny rail provides a stable optic interface, and the large ejection port supports clear access to the chamber and action.

TriggerTech Remington 700 Primary Trigger
The CM7S uses a TriggerTech Remington 700 Primary trigger, available with a flat or curved trigger bow. TriggerTech’s Frictionless Release Technology provides a true zero-creep break, short overtravel and consistent operation without depending on polishing or lubricating the engagement surfaces.
Pull weight is externally adjustable from 1.5 to 4 pounds in one-ounce increments. Hardened 440C stainless steel internal components provide corrosion resistance and extended service life. Current flat triggers do not use the removable trigger shoes visible in some earlier CM product photographs.
FDE Metallic CM7S Chassis
The billet-aluminum chassis gives the 308 Bolt Action Rifle a rigid bedding platform and broad adjustment without unnecessary complexity. Its FDE Metallic finish distinguishes this configuration while retaining the same mechanical capability as the other CM7S chassis rifles.
The flared magazine well accepts compatible short-action AICS-pattern magazines. An ambidextrous magazine release permits operation from either side, and the enlarged trigger guard provides additional clearance when gloves are worn.
A full bottom ARCA rail supports compatible tripods, bipods and other supported-position equipment. M-LOK mounting surfaces provide additional accessory space, while dual integrated QD sockets provide sling attachment points on both sides of the chassis.
Chassis Features
- Machined from a single block of billet aluminum
- FDE Metallic finish
- Flared short-action AICS-pattern magazine well
- Ambidextrous magazine release
- Large trigger guard for gloved operation
- Accepts AR15 pistol grips without an integrated dovetail
- Modular single-bolt stock-adapter system
- Telescoping stock

CM Vertical Crossover Grip
The rifle uses the CM Precision Vertical Crossover Grip developed in collaboration with MK Machining. Its geometry supports a more vertical firing-hand position while maintaining the handling characteristics needed for field carry and positional use.
308 Winchester Ammunition Compatibility
This 1:8 twist 308 Bolt Action Rifle is intended for conventional supersonic 308 Winchester ammunition. CM 308 Winchester firearms can also use appropriate 7.62×51 NATO ammunition.
The two cartridge designations are closely related, but their published pressure information is derived through different testing methods and should not be treated as universally interchangeable across every firearm. Read the 308 Winchester vs 7.62 NATO Guide for CM’s complete compatibility explanation.
CM’s 300-grain subsonic ammunition is not compatible with this rifle. That long projectile requires the 1:5 twist used in CM’s specialized subsonic firearms. It should not be fired through this 1:8 twist barrel.
Suppressing the CM7S 308 Bolt Action Rifle
A bolt action does not use propellant gas to cycle its action, making an enclosed suppressor the preferred design when sound reduction is the priority. Additional suppressor backpressure does not increase bolt speed or disrupt an automatic operating cycle.
The 5/8×24 muzzle threads accept compatible suppressor mounts and direct-thread suppressors rated for 308 Winchester and the firearm’s barrel length. Confirm suppressor alignment, mounting requirements and manufacturer restrictions before firing.
The 308 Suppressor Guide explains why CM recommends enclosed suppressors for bolt actions, flow-through suppressors for supersonic CM10 rifles and enclosed suppressors for the specialized CM10 SUBSONIC.
AICS Magazine Compatibility
The CM7S uses short-action AICS-pattern magazines rather than the LR/SR-pattern magazines used by CM10 semi-automatic rifles. Polymer and compatible metal AICS magazines may be used with the CM7S.
The available 308 bolt-action magazine is a 10-round Magpul PMAG 7.62 AC selected for the CM7S platform.
