CM7S 458 SOCOM Suppressed SBR with PLACID OTB

The CM7S 458 SOCOM Suppressed SBR brings together a 12.5-inch fast-twist .458 SOCOM bolt-action platform and the Chattahoochee Munitions PLACID OTB titanium over-the-barrel suppression system. Rather than adding a conventional suppressor entirely beyond the muzzle, PLACID OTB was developed around the CM7S to provide substantial suppressor volume while maintaining a compact overall firearm.

This version is finished in Black Tungsten with Black furniture and cheek riser. The 458 SOCOM Suppressed SBR also incorporates Chattahoochee Munitions’ .458 SOCOM XL capability through a specially modified MDT metal AICS-pattern magazine, allowing compatible extra-long .458 projectiles to be loaded at an extended cartridge overall length.

458 SOCOM XL in a Compact Bolt-Action Platform

The 458 SOCOM Suppressed SBR retains a .458 SOCOM chamber. SOCOM XL is not a different chambering or cartridge case. Instead, it describes Chattahoochee Munitions’ configuration for accommodating extra-long .458-caliber projectiles at extended cartridge overall lengths.

A specially modified MDT magazine provides the additional usable cartridge length required by the SOCOM XL configuration. This allows compatible extra-long projectiles to be seated farther out of the case rather than requiring those projectiles to be seated as deeply.

The result is expanded projectile and ammunition capability without changing the rifle’s underlying .458 SOCOM chamber. Standard compatible .458 SOCOM ammunition can still be used, while the SOCOM XL configuration provides additional options for ammunition using extra-long projectiles.

The chamber doesn’t get longer. The cartridge gets more room.

PLACID OTB Suppression for the 458 SOCOM Suppressed SBR

The PLACID OTB suppression system was developed specifically around the CM7S platform. On this 458 SOCOM Suppressed SBR, its over-the-barrel architecture places substantial suppressor volume around the barrel instead of positioning the entire suppression system forward of the muzzle.

The all-titanium system uses reflex volume around the barrel to provide substantial suppression volume while preserving the compact proportions central to the CM7S PLACID OTB configuration.

The complete PLACID OTB measures 18.25 inches long, has a 1.5-inch diameter and weighs 23.6 ounces. Its mounting, alignment and internal architecture are proprietary to Chattahoochee Munitions.

12.5-Inch Fast-Twist .458 SOCOM Barrel

At the center of the 458 SOCOM Suppressed SBR is a 12.5-inch barrel manufactured for Chattahoochee Munitions by Mos-Tek. The barrel uses a fast 1:10 twist rate selected for stabilizing the heavy and extra-long .458-caliber projectiles central to the SOCOM XL application.

  • 12.5-inch barrel length
  • 416R stainless steel
  • 5R rifling
  • 1:10 twist rate
  • Shouldered crown
  • Full-length, unported barrel
  • E100 Blackout Cerakote

CM7S Three-Lug PVD-Coated Action

The Chattahoochee Munitions CM7S action gives this 458 SOCOM Suppressed SBR its bolt-action foundation. The steel action uses a Remington 700-style footprint with a three-lug bolt and short 60-degree bolt throw, providing efficient cycling and generous clearance around mounted optics.

A one-piece .718-inch bolt body, M16-style extractor and spiral fluting are combined with wire EDM-cut raceways for uniform tolerances and smooth bolt travel. The complete steel action receives a full PVD coating for corrosion resistance and reduced friction across operating surfaces.

TriggerTech Remington 700 Primary Trigger

The 458 SOCOM Suppressed SBR comes standard with a TriggerTech Remington 700 Primary trigger. Customers can select either a flat or curved trigger configuration, with pull weight adjustable from approximately 1.5 to 4.0 pounds.

TriggerTech’s Frictionless Release Technology provides a crisp, predictable break with minimal overtravel. Hardened 440C stainless internal components and external CLKR adjustment provide straightforward pull-weight adjustment.

Black Tungsten CM7 Billet Chassis

This configuration uses the Chattahoochee Munitions CM7 billet aluminum chassis finished in Black Tungsten with Black furniture. Machined from a single block of billet aluminum, the chassis provides a rigid foundation for the CM7S action while offering extensive adjustment and accessory mounting capability.

The telescoping stock and adjustable cheek riser allow the 458 SOCOM Suppressed SBR to accommodate a wide range of shooter dimensions and optic configurations while maintaining the compact dimensions of the complete firearm.

  • Single-piece billet aluminum construction
  • Flared AICS-style magazine well
  • Ambidextrous magazine release
  • Full bottom ARCA rail

Modified MDT Magazine for 458 SOCOM XL

The 458 SOCOM Suppressed SBR uses a modified MDT metal AICS-pattern magazine as part of the Chattahoochee Munitions SOCOM XL configuration. The modification provides the additional usable cartridge length required to accommodate compatible extra-long .458 projectiles.

By providing additional cartridge-length capability, the magazine allows those projectiles to extend farther forward while reducing how deeply they must be seated into the case. The modified magazine is therefore an integral component of the SOCOM XL configuration used in this complete Chattahoochee Munitions firearm.

458 SOCOM Subsonic Ammunition

Chattahoochee Munitions offers 458 SOCOM Subsonic Ammo developed for the bolt-action side of the Terminal 458 ecosystem. The load uses a 650gr Maker REX solid-copper expanding projectile loaded in factory-new Starline .458 SOCOM brass at an overall cartridge length of 2.802 inches.

This ammunition is intended for appropriately configured bolt-action firearms such as the CM7S and is separate from the ammunition configuration developed for the CM10 semi-automatic platform.

For additional information about heavy subsonic .458 SOCOM performance, visit the 458 SOCOM Subsonic technical guide.

Compact Dimensions with Substantial Suppressor Volume

The over-the-barrel architecture of PLACID OTB allows the complete firearm to remain compact despite its substantial suppression volume. The finished 458 SOCOM Suppressed SBR weighs 7 lb 13.6 oz and measures from 31.00 to 38.625 inches overall depending on stock adjustment.

Length of pull adjusts from 6.0 to 13.5 inches, giving the CM7S chassis a wide adjustment range while retaining the compact characteristics of the 12.5-inch platform.

Rather than treating the rifle, suppression system and ammunition as unrelated components, Chattahoochee Munitions develops them as parts of a complete .458 SOCOM platform. The combination of the CM7S action, fast-twist barrel, SOCOM XL capability and PLACID OTB creates a purpose-built suppressed big-bore bolt-action system.
