The CM7S 308 barreled action pairs CM’s Remington 700 short-action footprint with a 16″ 416R stainless Mos-Tek barrel in a 1:8 twist, installed and ready for a Rem 700 short-action chassis or stock. It is the same action and barrel used in CM’s 16″ CM7S 308 bolt-action rifles, offered on its own for shooters who want to choose their own chassis, trigger and optics.

Trigger, chassis or stock, bottom metal and magazine are not included. The action accepts Remington 700-pattern triggers and fits Remington 700 short-action inlets.

Ammunition and the 1:8 Twist

The 1:8 twist is set up for supersonic 308 Winchester ammunition across common hunting and target bullet weights. It also handles subsonic ammunition in the right weight range: CM recommends subsonic loads of 220 grains and lighter in a 1:8 twist.

The 5/8×24 muzzle thread accepts common 308 suppressor mounts and muzzle devices. On a bolt action, an enclosed suppressor is the better choice for both supersonic and subsonic ammunition: there is no gas system for back pressure to affect, and an enclosed design provides maximum suppression.
