8.6 Blackout Magazine for CM7S Bolt Action Rifles

The 8.6 Blackout Magazine offered by Chattahoochee Munitions is the AICS-pattern magazine we use and vet for our CM7S 8.6 Blackout bolt-action firearms. Built on the Magpul PMAG 10 7.62 AC platform, it provides 10-round capacity in a lightweight polymer magazine designed for AICS-compatible short-action systems.

Magazine compatibility is particularly important when building a rifle around 8.6 Blackout. Rather than simply listing a generic AICS magazine and leaving compatibility to the customer, CM offers the magazine used with our own 8.6 Blackout bolt-action platform.

This 8.6 Blackout Magazine is intended for the CM7S and other compatible AICS-pattern bolt-action systems. It is not the magazine used by the semi-automatic CM10 AR10 platform.

CM-Vetted AICS Magazine for 8.6 Blackout

The CM7S was designed around AICS-pattern magazine architecture. This allows the rifle, chassis and magazine to function as a coordinated system rather than treating magazine selection as an afterthought.

Chattahoochee Munitions uses this magazine with CM7S 8.6 Blackout firearms because it provides the magazine geometry required by our bolt-action configuration while maintaining the durability and simplicity of a polymer AICS magazine.

8.6 Blackout Magazine Compatibility

This 8.6 Blackout Magazine is intended for bolt-action firearms and chassis systems using compatible AICS-pattern short-action magazine wells.

Within the Chattahoochee Munitions lineup, it is the magazine architecture used with the CM7S 8.6 Blackout platform. The CM7S combines a Remington 700 footprint action with an AICS-compatible chassis system, allowing this magazine to become part of a complete, vetted rifle configuration.

For customers assembling a CM7S from one of our 8.6 Blackout barreled actions, the magazine works alongside the CM7S Bolt Action Chassis, TriggerTech R700 Primary and Vertical Precision Crossover Grip to create a complete CM7S build.

AICS vs. AR10 8.6 Blackout Magazines

The CM7S and CM10 use different magazine architectures even though both platforms are chambered in 8.6 Blackout.

The CM7S is a bolt-action platform using an AICS-pattern 8.6 Blackout Magazine. The CM10 is a semi-automatic large-frame platform using conventional SR25-pattern magazines. The two magazine types are not interchangeable.

If you are purchasing a magazine for a CM7S 8.6 Blackout bolt-action firearm, this is the correct magazine architecture. CM10 owners should select the appropriate CM10/SR25-pattern 8.6 Blackout magazine instead.

Why CM Vets Its 8.6 Blackout Magazines

A rifle’s magazine is part of its feeding system. Cartridge geometry, magazine geometry, feed presentation and the host firearm all have to work together consistently.

CM develops complete firearm systems rather than selecting components solely from published compatibility lists. The magazines offered with our firearms are selected around the platforms in which we actually use them.

That approach is especially important with cartridges such as 8.6 Blackout, where customers may encounter numerous magazines originally marketed around other short-action cartridges. The CM approach is straightforward: provide a known magazine option alongside the firearm platform for which it has been vetted.

Magpul PMAG 10 7.62 AC Construction

The magazine is based on the Magpul PMAG 10 7.62 AC AICS Short Action platform. Magpul designed the PMAG 10 AC for AICS-compatible short-action bottom metal and chassis systems.

  • 10-round capacity
  • Polymer magazine body
  • Anti-tilt follower
  • Stainless-steel spring
  • Flared removable floorplate
  • Paint-pen dot matrix for magazine identification
  • AICS short-action compatibility

8.6 Blackout Magazine FAQ

What magazine does the CM7S 8.6 Blackout use?

The CM7S uses an AICS-pattern short-action magazine. Chattahoochee Munitions uses and offers the Magpul PMAG 10 7.62 AC as a vetted 8.6 Blackout Magazine for the CM7S platform.

How many rounds does this magazine hold?

This magazine has a 10-round capacity.

Will this magazine work in the CM10 AR10?

No. The CM7S and CM10 use different magazine architectures. This magazine is AICS-pattern for the CM7S bolt-action platform. The CM10 uses SR25-pattern magazines.

Can I use this magazine with a CM7S 8.6 Blackout barreled-action build?

Yes, when the completed firearm uses compatible AICS-pattern bottom metal or a compatible chassis such as the CM7S Bolt Action Chassis.

Why does CM call this an 8.6 Blackout Magazine if it is based on a Magpul 7.62 AC magazine?

Because this is the AICS-pattern magazine CM uses and vets for its CM7S 8.6 Blackout platform. The underlying magazine was not developed exclusively for 8.6 Blackout; CM’s product listing identifies its application within the CM7S system.
