Chattahoochee Munitions manufactures this 458 SOCOM suppressed SBR, a 12.5-inch CM7S bolt action fitted with the all-titanium PLACID OTB over-the-barrel suppressor and configured for 458 SOCOM XL. It pairs an unported Mos-Tek 416R stainless barrel with a 1:10 twist, a TriggerTech trigger, and the CM7 billet aluminum chassis, and you choose the Cerakote finish and the furniture color.
The 458 SOCOM fires a heavy .458-caliber bullet, and below the speed of sound it is made to be shot suppressed from a short barrel. See every configuration in the Terminal 458 hub, and read 458 SOCOM subsonic for the load.
Why Choose a 458 SOCOM Suppressed SBR
Three things make a suppressed firearm quiet: subsonic ammunition, an action that does not cycle, and a suppressor matched to the platform. This 458 SOCOM suppressed SBR has all three. The 650 gr subsonic load stays below the speed of sound, the bolt stays closed until you open it, and the PLACID OTB keeps the complete 458 SOCOM suppressed SBR short and well balanced at 7 lb 13.6 oz.
For feral hogs at night, a quiet report helps keep the rest of the group from scattering. For deer from a stand or blind, a short suppressed rifle is easy to bring up and easy to carry. The 650 gr Maker REX bullet carries about 1,342 ft-lb at 100 yards, so keep shots at known, moderate distances where the subsonic trajectory is easy to manage.
458 SOCOM XL in a Compact Bolt Action
Standard 458 SOCOM is limited to 2.260 inches overall so it fits an AR15 magazine, which forces long, heavy bullets deep into the case. 458 SOCOM XL moves past that limit: the 2.035-inch, 650 gr projectile is loaded to 2.802 inches, so it sits less deeply and reclaims usable case capacity for powder. XL names the projectile and the loaded ammunition; the chamber and the case are standard 458 SOCOM. This short-action CM7S and its modified MDT metal AICS-pattern 458 SOCOM magazine are configured for 458 SOCOM XL. The magazine holds 7 rounds and is not suitable for shorter, standard 458 SOCOM loads.
PLACID OTB Over-the-Barrel Suppressor
The PLACID OTB is an all-titanium suppressor designed around the 12.5-inch CM7S. Most of it surrounds the unported, full-length barrel rather than extending past the muzzle. It is 18.25 inches long, 1.5 inches in diameter, and 23.6 oz, and the complete 458 SOCOM suppressed SBR measures 31.00 to 38.625 inches overall. The PLACID OTB mounting, alignment, and internal design are proprietary. The OTB 12.5-inch configuration is offered as an SBR only, and both the short-barreled rifle and the suppressor are subject to National Firearms Act requirements; see NFA Firearms.
CM7S Action and Trigger
The CM7S action has a Remington 700 footprint, three locking lugs, a 60-degree bolt throw, and a one-piece spiral-fluted bolt with a .718-inch body, an M16-style extractor, and an oversize bolt knob. The steel action is fully PVD coated, weighs about 25 oz, and has an integrated recoil lug, wire EDM-cut raceways, a side bolt-stop release, and a pinned 20 MOA Picatinny rail. The TriggerTech Remington 700 Primary trigger comes flat or curved and adjusts from about 1.5 to 4.0 lb.
Barrel and 1:10 Twist
The 12.5-inch barrel is made by Mos-Tek from 416R stainless steel with 5R rifling and a 1:10 twist, finished in E100 Blackout Cerakote, with a shouldered crown and a full-length, unported profile under the PLACID OTB on this 458 SOCOM suppressed SBR. The 1:10 twist stabilizes heavy, long .458-caliber projectiles such as the 650 gr Maker REX.
Ammunition
The Chattahoochee Munitions 458 SOCOM subsonic ammo for bolt action fires a 650 gr Maker REX expanding, lead-free solid copper bullet in factory-new Starline brass at a 2.802-inch overall length. From a 12.5-inch barrel it averages about 1,010 fps with roughly 1,473 ft-lb at the muzzle and 1,342 ft-lb at 100 yards. It requires a firearm and magazine that accept that length, such as this 458 SOCOM suppressed SBR with the XL magazine.
Choose Your Cerakote Finish
Select the main color and the accent color when you order. The main color is the Cerakote finish: Black Tungsten, Cobalt Kinetics Green, FDE Metallic, FDE, Carbon Grey, OD Green, Burnt Bronze, Midnight Bronze, or Vortex Bronze Cerakote. The accent color is the furniture and cheek riser: Black or Coyote. Every combination shares the same action, barrel, trigger, PLACID OTB, and mechanical specifications, and every barrel is finished in E100 Blackout Cerakote.

458 SOCOM Suppressed SBR FAQ
Who makes a 458 SOCOM suppressed SBR?
Chattahoochee Munitions manufactures the CM7S 458 SOCOM with PLACID OTB, a complete factory 12.5-inch bolt action suppressed SBR with an all-titanium over-the-barrel suppressor, a Mos-Tek 1:10 barrel, and a TriggerTech trigger, along with 458 SOCOM subsonic ammunition and the 458 SOCOM XL magazine.
What finishes are available?
Black Tungsten, Cobalt Kinetics Green, FDE Metallic, FDE, Carbon Grey, OD Green, Burnt Bronze, Midnight Bronze, or Vortex Bronze Cerakote for the main color, with Black or Coyote furniture. Select both when you order; every combination shares the same mechanical specifications.
Who manufactures the Cobalt Kinetics Green Cerakote CM7S?
Chattahoochee Munitions designs and manufactures the CM7S 458 SOCOM. Cobalt Kinetics Green is the name of the Cerakote finish color applied to this firearm; it identifies the finish, not the manufacturer.
Is 458 SOCOM XL a different chambering?
No. The firearm is chambered in 458 SOCOM. XL names the 650 gr projectile and the ammunition loaded to 2.802 inches, beyond the AR15 limit of 2.260 inches. The firearm and its magazine are configured for XL, and the magazine is not suitable for shorter, standard 458 SOCOM loads.
What ammunition should I use for suppressed shooting?
The Chattahoochee Munitions 650 gr Maker REX subsonic load for bolt action. It stays below the speed of sound, so there is no supersonic crack downrange.
What NFA paperwork applies?
This is a short-barreled rifle with a suppressor, and both are subject to National Firearms Act requirements. See NFA Firearms for the current process.
How much does it weigh, and how long is it?
The complete firearm weighs 7 lb 13.6 oz with the PLACID OTB installed and measures 31.00 to 38.625 inches overall, with a 6.0 to 13.5-inch length of pull. Any heavier listing weight is the shipping weight.
