8.6 Blackout AR Pistol | CM10 8″
The CM10 8.6 Blackout AR Pistol is the most compact large-frame semi-automatic configuration in the Chattahoochee Munitions 8.6 Blackout lineup. Built around an 8-inch barrel, adjustable operating system and short SLR handguard, this Black Tungsten and Black configuration prioritizes minimum host length for customers building a compact suppressed system.
Chattahoochee Munitions has been building 8.6 Blackout firearms since the cartridge’s early introduction across both semi-automatic and bolt-action platforms. That experience has shaped the CM10 around the complete operating system: SR25-pattern magazines, customized feed ramps for large .338-caliber projectiles, adjustable gas, adjustable buffer weight and selectable 1:3 or 1:5 twist.
The 8-inch configuration serves a different purpose from CM’s 12.5-inch firearms. In subsonic loads CM has evaluated, powder utilization has been effectively complete at approximately 12 to 12.5 inches. The 8-inch 8.6 Blackout AR Pistol deliberately trades that additional barrel length for a substantially shorter host, helping offset the overall length added by a suppressor.
This firearm is offered in pistol configuration and may also be configured as an SBR where applicable. Receiver-extension components vary with the selected configuration.

Adjustable Gas and Buffer System
A compact semi-automatic 8.6 Blackout benefits from an operating system that can be configured around the ammunition and suppressor being used. The CM10 therefore provides adjustment through both gas delivery and reciprocating mass.
A Superlative Arms .875 Adjustable Gas Block provides control over gas delivery, while the ODIN Works AR10 Adjustable Buffer allows buffer weight to be adjusted.
These two tuning points give the 8.6 Blackout AR Pistol additional flexibility when configuring the firearm around different ammunition and suppressed operating conditions.
Receiver Extension
The pistol configuration uses an SBPDW brace with three-position adjustment. When ordered as an SBR, the firearm uses a six-position receiver extension and B5 Systems Bravo stock.
- SBPDW brace — pistol configuration
- Three-position adjustment
- QD attachment at 6 o’clock
- Phase 5 strap
- Six-position receiver extension — SBR configuration
- B5 Systems Bravo stock — SBR configuration
- Black Tungsten Cerakote
- ODIN Works AR10 Adjustable Buffer
CM10 Low-Mass Bolt Carrier Group
The CM10 upper uses a low-mass bolt carrier group as part of its adjustable operating system.
- 9310 steel bolt
- High-pressure tested bolt
- Magnetic-particle-inspected bolt
- Shot-peened bolt
- Nitride-coated bolt
- Nitride-coated carrier
- Nitride-coated gas key
- Hardened gas key
- Grade 8 hardened gas-key fasteners
- Staked gas key
- Tool-steel extractor
- T.E.A. extractor spring
- Black extractor insert
- Crane O-ring
CM also incorporates customized feed ramps designed around feeding the large .338-caliber projectiles used by 8.6 Blackout. Feeding, magazine selection and operating-system adjustment are treated as parts of the complete CM10 configuration.
8″ Mos-Tek 8.6 Blackout Barrel
The 8.6 Blackout AR Pistol uses an 8-inch barrel produced in collaboration with Mos-Tek.
- 8″ barrel length
- 416R stainless steel
- 5R rifling
- Choice of 1:3 or 1:5 twist
- Shouldered crown
- M18x1.5 muzzle threads
- .875 gas journal
- E100 Blackout Cerakote finish
CM offers both 1:3 and 1:5 twist options because projectile construction, length, weight and velocity influence stabilization. CM’s observations from longer-barrel testing should not automatically be transferred to the 8-inch configuration because the shorter barrel changes the projectile’s velocity environment. Twist selection should be based on the intended ammunition and projectile.
For a deeper discussion of CM’s experience with barrel length, projectile weight, twist rate and suppressed configurations, read the 8.6 Blackout Subsonic Guide.
SLR 7.25″ Handguard Options
The 8-inch CM10 uses SLR 7.25-inch handguard systems suited to this compact barrel configuration.
SLR ZRO 308H 7.25″ M-LOK
The standard configuration uses the SLR ZRO 308H 7.25″ M-LOK Handguard.
- Designed for 8″ barrels using the appropriate taper spacer
- 7.25″ exact top-rail length
- Gen 4
- DPMS High Profile
- 7075 aluminum barrel nut with hardcoat anodize
- Free-floating design
- Grade 8 fasteners
- Anti-rotation and anti-slip mounting design
- 1913 top rail
SLR SD ZRO 308H 7.25″ / 11.25″ OAL
The SLR SD ZRO 308H provides an alternative configuration for compatible recessed suppressor installations.
- 7.25″ base length
- 11.25″ overall length
- 1.8″ internal diameter
- 4″ extension beyond the barrel shoulder
- 7075 aluminum barrel nut with hardcoat anodize
- Free-floating design
- Two limited-rotation QD sockets
- Continuous top rail
- Special accessory mounting hardware for the suppressor-end section
Because the SD handguard extends beyond the muzzle, suppressor outside diameter, length and mounting geometry must be compatible with the recessed configuration. The standard 7.25-inch ZRO handguard is the appropriate alternative when suppressor geometry does not permit a recessed installation.
CM10 Upper Components
- CM10 ambidextrous charging handle — 7075 aluminum
- CM pistol-length gas tube — Melonite
- Superlative Arms .875 Adjustable Gas Block — DLC
- SLR 7.25″ handguard system — selectable configuration
- B5 Systems Black furniture
The M18x1.5 muzzle threads allow the firearm to be configured with an appropriate compatible muzzle device or suppressor mounting system.
Why Choose an 8″ 8.6 Blackout AR Pistol?
The primary advantage of the 8-inch 8.6 Blackout AR Pistol is minimum host length. Adding a suppressor can substantially increase overall firearm length, so reducing barrel and handguard length helps offset that increase and keeps the complete suppressed system more compact.
There is a deliberate tradeoff. In the subsonic loads CM has evaluated, powder utilization has been effectively complete at approximately 12 to 12.5 inches. The 8-inch configuration is therefore not presented as CM’s subsonic barrel-length sweet spot. It is the compact alternative for customers who place greater priority on minimum overall system length.
The adjustable gas block and adjustable buffer provide two tuning points for configuring this short semi-automatic platform around the selected ammunition and suppressor.
SR25-Pattern Magazine Architecture
The CM10 uses conventional SR25-pattern magazine architecture rather than the AICS center-feed architecture CM uses for its large-frame 375 Raptor and 458 SOCOM XL platforms.
This firearm includes one 20-round 7.62 PMAG in Black. Additional vetted 20-round CM10 8.6 Blackout magazines are available separately.

8.6 Blackout AR Pistol FAQ
Why choose the 8-inch CM10?
The 8-inch barrel minimizes host length, helping offset the additional overall length created when a suppressor is installed. It is the most compact CM10 configuration in the 8.6 Blackout lineup.
Is the 8-inch barrel CM’s preferred length for subsonic ammunition?
No. In the subsonic loads CM has evaluated, powder utilization has been effectively complete at approximately 12 to 12.5 inches. The 8-inch configuration deliberately prioritizes minimum overall system length instead.
Can the CM10 8″ also be configured as an SBR?
Yes. The firearm can be configured as a pistol or SBR where applicable. The pistol configuration uses an SBPDW brace, while the SBR configuration uses a six-position receiver extension and B5 Systems Bravo stock.
What trigger does the CM10 use?
The CM10 uses the TriggerTech Duty trigger family with single-stage straight, single-stage curved and two-stage straight options.
Should I choose 1:3 or 1:5 twist?
Twist selection depends on projectile construction, length, weight, ammunition and velocity. Because the 8-inch barrel changes the velocity environment compared with CM’s longer test configurations, twist selection should be based on the intended ammunition rather than automatically applying observations from a longer barrel.
Can the suppressor be recessed beneath the handguard?
The SLR SD configuration is intended for compatible recessed suppressor installations. Suppressor outside diameter, overall length and mounting geometry must be considered when selecting this configuration.
