CM7S 458 SOCOM Bolt Action SBR with PLACID OTB
The CM7S 458 SOCOM Bolt Action SBR combines a compact 12.5-inch bolt-action platform with the purpose-built PLACID OTB titanium over-the-barrel suppression system. Built around the heavy-projectile capabilities of .458 SOCOM, this configuration pairs a fast 1:10 twist barrel with substantial reflex suppressor volume in a compact short-barreled rifle.
Finished in FDE Metallic with Coyote furniture and cheek riser, this 458 SOCOM Bolt Action SBR also incorporates Chattahoochee Munitions’ .458 SOCOM XL magazine configuration. A specially modified MDT metal AICS-pattern magazine provides the additional cartridge-length capability needed to accommodate extra-long .458 projectiles without requiring those projectiles to be seated as deeply into the cartridge case.
458 SOCOM XL Capability
The chambering of this 458 SOCOM Bolt Action SBR remains .458 SOCOM. SOCOM XL does not represent a different chamber or cartridge case. Instead, it describes Chattahoochee Munitions’ configuration for using extra-long .458 projectiles at an extended cartridge overall length.
Chattahoochee Munitions modifies an MDT magazine specifically for the SOCOM XL configuration. The additional usable cartridge length allows compatible extra-long projectiles to be seated farther out of the case, preserving additional internal case volume compared with seating the same long projectile more deeply.
The distinction is important: the rifle retains a .458 SOCOM chamber, while the SOCOM XL configuration expands the projectile and ammunition options available to the short-action bolt platform.
The chamber doesn’t get longer. The cartridge gets more room.

PLACID OTB for the 458 SOCOM Bolt Action SBR
The PLACID OTB system on this 458 SOCOM Bolt Action SBR was developed by Chattahoochee Munitions around the CM7S platform rather than treating suppression as a conventional muzzle-mounted addition. Its over-the-barrel architecture places substantial suppressor volume around the barrel instead of positioning the entire suppression system beyond the muzzle.
The all-titanium system uses reflex volume around the barrel to provide substantial suppression volume while maintaining a compact overall firearm configuration.
The PLACID OTB measures 18.25 inches long, is 1.5 inches in diameter and weighs 23.6 ounces. Its mounting, alignment and internal architecture are proprietary to Chattahoochee Munitions.
12.5-Inch 1:10 Twist 458 SOCOM Barrel
The 458 SOCOM Bolt Action SBR uses a 12.5-inch barrel manufactured for Chattahoochee Munitions by Mos-Tek. Its fast 1:10 twist rate is selected for stabilizing the heavy and extra-long .458-caliber projectiles central to the SOCOM XL application.
- 12.5-inch barrel length
- 416R stainless steel
- 5R rifling
- 1:10 twist rate
- Shouldered crown
- Full-length, unported barrel
- E100 Blackout Cerakote
Full PVD-Coated CM7S Action
At the center of this 458 SOCOM Bolt Action SBR is the Chattahoochee Munitions CM7S action. The steel action uses a Remington 700-style footprint and combines a three-lug bolt with a short 60-degree throw for efficient cycling and generous clearance around mounted optics.
The one-piece bolt features a .718-inch body, M16-style extractor and spiral fluting. Wire EDM-cut raceways maintain uniform tolerances and smooth bolt travel, while the full PVD coating provides corrosion resistance and reduced friction across operating surfaces.

TriggerTech Primary Trigger
A TriggerTech Remington 700 Primary trigger is standard equipment. Choose either a flat or curved trigger configuration, with pull weight adjustable from approximately 1.5 to 4.0 pounds.
TriggerTech’s Frictionless Release Technology provides a crisp, predictable break with minimal overtravel. Hardened 440C stainless internal components and external CLKR adjustment provide consistent operation with straightforward pull-weight adjustment.
FDE Metallic CM7 Billet Chassis
The chassis is machined from a single block of billet aluminum and finished in FDE Metallic with Coyote furniture. Its adjustable stock system and modular chassis architecture provide a rigid foundation while allowing the compact 458 SOCOM Bolt Action SBR to be fitted to the shooter.
- Single-piece billet aluminum construction
- Flared AICS-style magazine well
- Ambidextrous magazine release
- Full bottom ARCA rail
- M-LOK compatibility
- Dual integrated QD sling sockets

Modified MDT Magazine for SOCOM XL
The 458 SOCOM Bolt Action SBR uses a modified MDT metal AICS-pattern magazine developed around Chattahoochee Munitions’ SOCOM XL configuration. The magazine provides the additional usable cartridge length needed to accommodate compatible extra-long .458 projectiles at an extended overall length.
This allows extra-long projectiles to extend farther forward while reducing how deeply they must be seated into the case. The modified magazine is therefore an integral component of the SOCOM XL configuration used in this complete Chattahoochee Munitions firearm.
458 SOCOM Subsonic Ammunition
Chattahoochee Munitions offers 458 SOCOM Subsonic Ammo developed for the bolt-action side of the Terminal 458 ecosystem. The load uses a 650gr Maker REX solid-copper expanding projectile and factory-new Starline .458 SOCOM brass at an overall cartridge length of 2.802 inches.
This ammunition is intended for appropriately configured bolt-action firearms such as the CM7S and is separate from the ammunition configuration developed for the CM10 semi-automatic platform.

Compact Suppressed Big-Bore Bolt Action
The combination of the 12.5-inch barrel and PLACID OTB over-the-barrel architecture keeps the complete system compact despite its substantial suppression volume. Rather than positioning the entire suppression system forward of the muzzle, the reflex architecture utilizes volume around the barrel.
The complete firearm weighs 7 lb 13.6 oz and measures 31.00 to 38.625 inches overall depending on stock adjustment. Length of pull is adjustable from 6.0 to 13.5 inches, providing a wide adjustment range within the compact CM7S chassis configuration.
The result is a 458 SOCOM Bolt Action SBR developed as an integrated combination of a compact bolt-action firearm, fast-twist barrel, SOCOM XL capability and purpose-built suppression. Chattahoochee Munitions develops the rifle, suppression system and compatible ammunition as components of a complete .458 SOCOM platform.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is 458 SOCOM XL a different chambering?
No. This 458 SOCOM Bolt Action SBR is chambered in .458 SOCOM. SOCOM XL refers to Chattahoochee Munitions’ configuration for accommodating extra-long .458 projectiles at an extended cartridge overall length through the use of a specially modified magazine.
Why does the SOCOM XL configuration use a modified MDT magazine?
The modified MDT magazine provides additional usable cartridge length for compatible extra-long .458 projectiles, allowing them to be seated farther out of the case rather than requiring the same projectile to be seated as deeply.
