Chattahoochee Munitions considers the 10–10.5-inch range optimal for its general-purpose .300 Blackout applications. The 10-inch barrel provides useful powder utilization without adding barrel length that offers little benefit for CM’s intended subsonic use.
Suppression can reduce muzzle report and improve the overall shooting experience, but it does not eliminate sound. The projectile’s flight, bullet impact and other mechanical noises remain audible. Hearing protection should still be used whenever practical.
Successful hunting also depends on more than sound reduction. Ammunition must provide suitable accuracy and terminal performance at the anticipated impact velocity. Suppressor Setup for a Suppressed 300 Blackout Hunting Rifle
The 5/8×24 muzzle thread accepts many direct-thread .30-caliber suppressors and compatible mounting systems. Because suppressors differ in bore diameter, mounting method, length, weight and pressure characteristics, customers should verify compatibility with the suppressor and mount manufacturers before installation.
A conventional enclosed .30-caliber suppressor is generally the more suitable choice when sound reduction with subsonic .300 Blackout is the priority.
