8.6 BLK Bolt Action Rifle | CM7S 16″ Black Tungsten

The CM7S 8.6 BLK Bolt Action Rifle is Chattahoochee Munitions’ purpose-built bolt-action platform for shooters who want a configurable 8.6 Blackout system built around reliable feeding, premium components and the intended ammunition. This 16-inch CM7S combines our Remington 700-footprint action, Mos-Tek barrel, TriggerTech Primary trigger, billet CM7 chassis and a vetted AICS-pattern magazine system.

Rather than treating 8.6 Blackout as simply another chambering, CM configures the complete firearm around the cartridge. Barrel twist is available in either 1:3 or 1:5 depending on the intended projectile class, while the chassis and magazine system are selected to support reliable operation with 8.6 BLK ammunition.

This Black Tungsten configuration uses a durable Cerakote finish across the chassis and stock while retaining the mechanical specifications of the CM7S 16-inch 8.6 Blackout platform.

CM7S Action

At the center of this 8.6 BLK Bolt Action Rifle is the Chattahoochee Munitions CM7S action. The CM7S uses a Remington 700 footprint and a three-lug bolt with a 60-degree throw. It was developed as a purpose-built action for CM bolt-action firearms rather than relying on a modified factory receiver.

  • Remington 700 footprint
  • Three-lug bolt design
  • 60-degree bolt throw
  • M16-style extractor
  • One-piece .718″ bolt body
  • Wire EDM raceways
  • Pinned 20 MOA Picatinny rail
  • Large ejection port
  • Lightweight action-body cutout
  • .062″ firing pin
  • Integrated .300″ recoil lug
  • Tool-less fire-control removal
  • Accepts Remington 700-style triggers
  • 1-1/16″-16 barrel thread
  • Side bolt-stop release
  • Oversized bolt knob
  • Spiral-fluted bolt
  • Full PVD coating
  • Action weight: 25 oz

The three-lug design and 60-degree throw provide a short bolt lift, while the pinned 20 MOA rail and integrated recoil lug provide a rigid foundation for the complete rifle.

16″ Mos-Tek 8.6 Blackout Barrel

The CM7S uses a Mos-Tek premium bolt-action barrel manufactured from 416R stainless steel with 5R rifling.

  • 16″ barrel length
  • 416R stainless steel
  • 5R rifling
  • Choice of 1:3 or 1:5 twist
  • Shouldered crown
  • 5/8×24 muzzle threads
  • Remage barrel-nut mounting system
  • E100 Blackout Cerakote

Both twist rates are offered because Chattahoochee Munitions does not treat one twist as universally correct for every 8.6 Blackout configuration. For barrels approximately 12.5 inches or longer, our testing has generally favored 1:5 twist with projectiles around 300 grains or less and 1:3 twist with heavy subsonic projectiles around 323 grains and above. Projectile construction, length, velocity and ammunition can also influence stabilization.

For a deeper discussion of projectile weight, barrel length, twist selection and suppression, see our 8.6 Blackout Subsonic Guide.

TriggerTech Primary Trigger

The CM7S 8.6 BLK Bolt Action Rifle is equipped with a TriggerTech Remington 700 Primary trigger, available with either a flat or curved trigger.

The TriggerTech Primary provides an adjustable pull-weight range from approximately 1.5 to 4.0 pounds. Its design provides a clean, consistent break and allows the shooter to configure the trigger weight around personal preference and intended use.

CM7 Billet Chassis

The CM7 chassis is machined from billet aluminum and provides the structural foundation for the finished rifle. It is designed around AICS-pattern magazines and incorporates the controls and attachment points needed for a compact, configurable bolt-action system.

  • Flared AICS-pattern magazine well
  • Ambidextrous magazine release
  • Large trigger guard for gloved operation
  • Machined billet-aluminum construction
  • Modular stock-adapter system
  • M-LOK compatible
  • Dual integrated QD sling sockets
  • Compatible with AR-15 pistol grips without integrated dovetails

Rather than leaving magazine compatibility to customer experimentation, CM uses a vetted AICS-pattern magazine configuration with this rifle. The recommended CM 8.6 Blackout Magazine is selected specifically for our bolt-action 8.6 BLK platform.

Adjustable Stock and Precision Grip

The Black Tungsten configuration includes a telescoping butt pad with an adjustable cheek riser. This allows the rifle to be configured for different shooters, optic heights and shooting positions while maintaining a compact overall package.

The rifle is also equipped with the CM Vertical Precision Crossover Grip, developed in collaboration with MK Machining.

Why Choose a 16″ 8.6 BLK Bolt Action Rifle?

A 16-inch barrel provides a conventional rifle configuration while retaining the characteristics that make 8.6 Blackout well suited to heavy-projectile and suppressed applications. It also avoids the federal short-barreled-rifle classification associated with a stocked firearm having a barrel under 16 inches.

For shooters who want a traditional rifle-length configuration, the 16-inch CM7S provides the same choice of 1:3 or 1:5 twist while offering additional barrel length compared with our compact CM7S configurations.

The bolt-action platform also eliminates the need to tune a semi-automatic gas system around different ammunition types. For shooters prioritizing a mechanically straightforward suppressed rifle, hunting platform or precision-oriented 8.6 BLK system, the CM7S provides a purpose-built solution.

Built as a Complete 8.6 Blackout System

An 8.6 BLK Bolt Action Rifle should be configured around more than the chambering alone. Projectile weight, twist rate, barrel length, magazine selection, suppressor choice and intended use all influence the characteristics of the finished firearm.

Chattahoochee Munitions has been building 8.6 Blackout firearms since the cartridge’s early introduction, before SAAMI standardization. That experience has shaped the way we configure CM7S rifles, including offering both major twist-rate options and supplying vetted magazine solutions rather than expecting customers to determine compatibility after purchase.
