The Chattahoochee Munitions 338 ARC Bolt Action Hunting Rifle combines the CM7S Remington 700-footprint action with a 16-inch MÔS-Tek barrel, CM’s 1:5 twist specification, TriggerTech Primary trigger, and CM7 billet aluminum chassis. This configuration features Black Tungsten Cerakote with black furniture for a subdued field-ready finish.
The CM7S is Chattahoochee Munitions’ flagship bolt-action platform. Rather than assembling the rifle around generic 338 ARC components, CM configures the action, barrel, bolt face, magazine, trigger, and chassis as a complete system built around the cartridge.
This 16-inch 338 ARC Bolt Action Hunting Rifle provides a conventional rifle-length configuration while retaining the heavy-projectile and subsonic capabilities that make 338 ARC particularly interesting for hunting and suppressed applications.

The CM7S 338 ARC Bolt Action Hunting Rifle uses a 16-inch 416R stainless-steel barrel manufactured for Chattahoochee Munitions by MÔS-Tek. The barrel features 5R rifling, CM’s 1:5 twist specification, and the Remage barrel-nut system.

Why CM Uses a 1:5 Twist
Chattahoochee Munitions specifies a 1:5 twist throughout the CM7S 338 ARC family. This differs from the 1:8 twist commonly associated with the standardized cartridge specification and is an intentional CM configuration.
CM has years of experience manufacturing and testing firearms using heavy .338-caliber projectiles. In our testing and experience, the faster twist has performed particularly well with heavy projectiles such as the 307-grain Hornady Sub-X.
For a 338 ARC Bolt Action Hunting Rifle intended to provide both subsonic and supersonic capability, that experience led CM to standardize the CM7S around the faster 1:5 twist.
TriggerTech Remington 700 Primary Trigger
The CM7S is equipped with a TriggerTech Remington 700 Primary trigger, available with either a flat or curved trigger. Pull weight is adjustable from 1.5 to 4.0 pounds.
TriggerTech’s Frictionless Release Technology provides a crisp break with short over-travel, while CLKR Technology allows external pull-weight adjustment. Hardened 440C stainless-steel internal components provide corrosion resistance and durability.
Some product photography may show earlier flat-trigger configurations equipped with trigger shoes. Current production triggers do not use those shoes.

338 ARC for Hunting
The 338 ARC Bolt Action Hunting Rifle gives hunters a compact .338-caliber cartridge capable of using both supersonic and heavy subsonic ammunition. That flexibility allows ammunition selection to be matched to the intended application rather than limiting the rifle to a single ballistic role.
A bolt-action platform is particularly useful with subsonic ammunition because the firearm does not depend on ammunition-generated gas to cycle a semi-automatic operating system. This allows ammunition selection to be driven by projectile performance without the additional requirement of operating a gas system.
For hunting use, projectile selection should always be matched to the intended game, expected impact velocity, distance, and required terminal performance.
Heavy .338-Caliber Subsonic Capability
Heavy-projectile subsonic capability is an important part of the design philosophy behind the CM7S 338 ARC Bolt Action Hunting Rifle. CM’s 1:5 twist specification reflects our experience with heavy .338-caliber projectiles and suppressed firearm systems.
The rifle can also use appropriate supersonic 338 ARC ammunition, providing substantially different ballistic capabilities from the same firearm depending on ammunition selection.

The 16-inch 338 ARC Bolt Action Hunting Rifle provides a conventional rifle configuration for hunters who prefer a 16-inch barrel or do not want the additional regulatory considerations associated with an SBR. CM also offers shorter CM7S configurations for customers who place a greater priority on minimizing overall firearm length.
In Chattahoochee Munitions’ testing and loading experience with the configurations evaluated, much of the useful powder utilization occurs around the 12-inch range. The 16-inch model therefore is not built on the premise that 338 ARC requires a long barrel. Instead, it provides a conventional rifle format while retaining the characteristics that make 338 ARC useful in compact systems.
